A man in the village of Kipnuk was arrested for assault, said a report by the Alaska State Troopers. On 2/15/2017 at about 1642 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report of assault in the village of Kipnuk. Tribal Police Officers reported Derek Anaruk, age 37 of Kipnuk, threatened them with a firearm when they responded to a disturbance at his residence. Troopers responded to the village to investigate. Investigation revealed Anaruk recklessly placed two officers in fear of imminent serious physical injury when he brandished a firearm and shouted threats at the officers. Troopers arrested Anaruk and remanded him to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel on two counts of Assault in the Third Degree.
